Scaling an Early Intervention Programme in Hearing Disability
STCI’s (Save The Children India) work focuses on vulnerable children, empowering them with education, protection and skilling. All our initiatives focus on early interventions and system strengthening as the two main programmatic pillars.
Our Disability programme include a school for the hearing impaired and children with intellectual disabilities, and Dhvani, An Early Intervention Program ensuring early identification, intervention and mainstreaming of children with hearing loss.
Earlier in 2020, the Canterbury Christ Church University, UK in collaboration with SCHOOL for Development and Impact, a research organization, studied the Dhvani programme to identify its potential for impact and scale. Several relevant findings and specific recommendations have emerged, that enables Dhvani to empower agencies and ensure that children with hearing impairment are identified and get treatment and therapy as early as possible. Please find attached a concise report on the top line findings and also the main report.
At the Round Table scheduled on the 4th of December 2020, a select group of experts and practitioners have been invited to discuss perspectives on disability, international models in early interventions, and models for scale.
The format is as follows:
- Each speaker is allocated 5-7 minutes on a specific topic
- 15 minutes for engagement and discussion post this
We request you to present your views on: “Relevance of studying Early Intervention to inform Policy and Practice”
We request you to share a high-resolution photo and a short profile description to enable appropriate communication material to be developed for the event.
