Organisation Biography
Anna University was established by Tamil Nadu Act no. 30 of 1978 on 4th September 1978 as a unitary type of University. The University was formed by bringing together the four institutions in the city of Chennai, i.e., College of Engineering, Guindy, Alagappa College of Technology, School of Architecture and planning and Madras Institute of Technology.
Anna University has diversified its academic, research and consultancy activities to meet the socio economic and technological needs of the time. It has established international link with the prestigious Universities and Organization such as USAID, United Nations Centre for Human Settlement, Ford Foundations, European Economic Community and Government of Germany and United Kingdom, German Technical Cooperation, GTZ, Germany, Bermen Overseas Research and Development Association, Germany, Institute National de la Research Agronomique, france ,university of Applied Sciences, Sundenberg, Germany, University of Luneberg, Germany, University of Hannovar, Hannovar , Germny,, Center for International Migration, Germany Swedish International Development Agency, Institute for global Environmental strategies (IGES), Japan, Norway Geo physical Institute, National Environment Remote Sensing Centre (Nansem), Pasco – Japan, Rotta India Ltd., University of Amsterdam, Dhan Foundation, Wageningen University, Netherland.
The centre for technology development and transfer, which was established recently, facilities such collaborations and enables the faculty members to take up research works.
